A 6-year-old boy was walking to school this morning when he was struck by a car in Beaumont.

It appears the child stepped in front of a slow moving vehicle in the area of Highland and N. Parkway, according to officer Crystal Homes of the Beaumont Police Dept.

The child was taken to the hospital for his injuries which include bruises and scrapes on his face and arms.

According to Holmes, the driver of the car will not be cited.

Motor vehicle accidents in the U.S. result in close to 40,000 deaths every year. For Americans 4 to 34, motor vehicle accidents are consistently the number one cause of death… but thankfully that wasn’t the case today.
